The APC Local Government Congress that was suppose to hold in Arochukwu LGA failed to hold because of disagreement within the clans that make up Arochukwu LGA.
While the other four clans that make Arochukwu LGA (Abam, Isu, Ihechinwa and Etutu) are insisting on credible congress as stipulated by the party NEC, the Aro clan wanted the return of the current party LG Chairman based on harmonization.
Information we gathered from a credible source has it that, APC members from Abam, Isu, Ihechinwa and Etutu clans have agreed to wrest power out of the hand of the core Aro APC and produce an LG chairman from Abam.
They alleged that they have been marginalized for so long despite the four clans having greater number and voting strength than the Aro’s. Based on that, they decided that an Abam indigene must emerge as the APC LG chairman under a credible congress.
The APC members from Aro sensed that any attempt to hold the LG congress election, they will fail because of the understanding between the other clans and they instead stayed away from the congress ,insisting on the return of the current chairman who hails from Aro.
When the LG Congress committee landed at the venue of the congress in Arochukwu LGA, they could only find 10 wards that make up Abam, Isu, Ihechinwa and Etutu. The other 3 wards that make up Aro were absent at the venue.
An attempt by the congress committee to start the process was hindered by thugs who came to disrupt the process.
