The federal ministry of education is set to relocate the National Open University of Nigeria to Amaogwugwu, Ohuhu, Umuahia North LGA.

The relocation of the institution was made necessary as a result of the disconducive nature of the present site of the university in Umudike.

During the combined site inspection visit of the team, led by the permanent Secretary ministry of education, Abia State, Mrs Okengwu to Ohuhu Community Secondary School.

The combined team made up of the management of NOUN and ministry of education, Abia State, expressed satisfaction with the facility they were shown, speaking with the News Gazette Reporter, the registrar of NOUN, Mr. Felix I. Edoka, said the management of the university was satisfied with the facility but insisted that a lot of work needs to be done to put the site in order, he said though there are dilapidated class room blocks that needs to be reconstructed, he expressed optimism that the state government will do the needful by fixing whatever that needs to be fixed having provided the space and invited the management of the National Open University over for this inspection to enable them relocate to the new site as quickly as possible.

The team was grateful to the community for their magnanimity and hospitality, saying that they were looking forward to a robust relationship between the management of NOUN and Amaogwugwu the host community.

The visitors were entertained with cultural dances provided by Amaogwugwu women, while the community leaders one after another in their speeches promised the management of the school that they will give them the required assistance that will enable them settle down to business with ease.
