Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has received an award of excellence from the Federal Road Safety Commission.
Presenting the award at the Executive Chambers of Government House, Umuahia on behalf of the Corps Marshall, FRSC, Abuja, the Abia Sector Commander, Mr. Linus Ojukwu said the award was given to the Governor in recognition of the role he has played making their work much easier through the robust road network he has constructed and reconstructed in the state.
Mr. Ojukwu informed the Governor of the proposal to have a liaison office of the Commission in Government House, Umuahia, which would help the Governor’s convoy and congratulated the Governor on the award.
Responding, the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu thanked the Commission for giving him the award and said the award is an appreciation of his works in Abia State and dedicated the award to all those helping the FRSC in one way or the other to ensure safety in Nigerian roads.
The Governor, who noted that road accident contributes greatly in death rate, promised to keep the flag flying in road infrastructure.
