Chy Nwakanma, whose full name is Chiagoziem Nwakanma, is an origin of Abia State, Nigeria.  The talented actress is gradually on her way to becoming the next Nollywood sweetheart. She came under our radar after she effortlessly played the role of “Dede”, a young, clueless and naive wife in Lowladee’s youtube and TV series titled “This is it”.  Chy’s other TV credits include, “Lisa” on Mnet / African Magic’s “Hustle”, “Life 101” on Ebonylife TV, and “Corper Shun” on Accelerate TV. Chy made her cinema debut this year in the movie “Disguise”, where she played the role of “Kate”, alongside Desmond Elliot, IK Ogbonna, Nancy Isime, Daniel k. Daniel and Toyin Abraham.  She is the host of a new TV show called “Dinner with Stars”, which would be aired soon.

There is no doubt that Chy has a very promising future in Nollywood and having followed her work for some time now, here are some facts that we’ve gathered about her.

Chy is proudly Made in Aba.  The actress consistently uses the hashtag (#madeinaba) in all her posts on Instagram.  She takes pride in the fact that she was born and lived her early years in Aba.

She grew up in Umugansi, Aba.  Here’s what she posted under one of her pictures “ it was great working with young creatives in ABA! The photographer is currently based in Aba, Abia State and so is the makeup artist. These pictures were also taken in ABA! And here’s a fun fact for those who didn’t know, I’m from Abia State and I lived my early years in Umungasi Aba! Moral of the story? ABA is still HOME”

She often refers to herself as “The president of the new school”.  In her Instagram bio she wrote #presidentofthenewschool. In a recent interview she explained that the “new school” is a new school of thought. As youths we need to start thinking differently to take control of our future.

She was going to study biochemistry in University. The actress stated in an interview that she was going to study biochemistry in university but after her first year she realised that she wanted to pursue a career in acting so she changed her course of study to performing arts.

She was nominated for Exquisite Ladies of the Year (ELOY) awards 2017 under TV Actress. Alongside, Dakore Akande, Beverly Naya and Uru Eke.  She didn’t win the category but she is always our winner!
