The Senate Council of the National Association of Abia Students (NAASS), few days ago conferred a merit award of excellence on Mr. Oracle Chukwudi Nwala Esq.
The award is in recognition of his outstanding contributions to scholarship and national development. This award is coming days after The Anglican Youth fellowship, Diocese of Isiala Ngwa South, also found him worthy to be conferred with a “Worthy Ambassador Award”, in recognition of his mentorship and coaching skills for youth development.
In his speech at the conferment, the NAASS Senate President, Sen. Kingsley Ekejiuba expounded that the idea behind an award generally is to give a person a due recognition for excellence in a certain field or endeavour as well as encourage or challenge the recipient to do more.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Oracle Chukwudi Nwala Esq, initially queried the rationale and logic for the award but nevertheless, thanked the student body for the honour bestowed on him. The SDP candidate for Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal constituency, said he will always speak the truth regardless of whose ox is gored because unlike other politicians, he has a flourishing career and does not depend on politics as a means of earning a living. He implored the students to strive to build a career for themselves before venturing into politics. He eschewed a situation where viable young men solely depends on our commonwealth for their livelihood
According to him ‘I agree that the youth are leaders of tomorrow or future leaders but you must bear in mind that you are also stakeholders in today’s governance and must as much as possible strive to make your positions felt in the corridors of power’. This according to him can only be achieved when the youth take the time to firstly develop their potentials rather than cling to politicians for subsistence.
Speaking to Newsmen shortly after receiving award on behalf of one of the awardees, Senator (General) Ike Nwachukwu, Henry Agbeze, a former commissioner in the state, extolled the virtues of Oracle Nwala who he described as a thorough bred and emerging political leader in Abia State.
