The member representing Aba North/South federal Constituency in the national assembly, Hon. Prestige Ossy, has praised the organizers of the Okpekpe race for a job well done.

Speaking after the race where he came first in his own category (right behind the pros), the lawmaker said, “I think the organizers did a wonderful job, from security, emergency medical responses, drinking water to the press which include live coverage by Supersports and other international and most notable Nigerian Electronic and Print media. I want to thank them, It’s really a good experience”.

Hon. Ossy went further to encourage other states to emulate what is happening in Edo State and develop other sporting activities in their own States, as the advantages of these sporting activities are enormous. “I want to use this opportunity to call on other States to emulate what is happening in Edo State and develop other sporting activities in their various States.The advantages range from good health which is derived from active participation in sports , increase in the GDP of the State as a result of the influx of foreigners who came and spent their money , it also keeps the youths busy thereby taking their mind away from crimes and other social vices, and puts the state on the international sporting calendar”.

Other notable dignitaries that were present are – Adams Oshomole, Minister of youth & sports – Solomon Dalung, Deputy Governor of Edo State , INEC Commissioner – Mustapha Leeky , SSG Edo state, amongst others.

The Okpekpe Race is an annual road race at Okpekpe in Edo State, it’s recoganized internationally and also being graced by local and foreign athletes.
