Senator Ted Cruz of the united states once said “the light of truth is stronger than the terror of darkness”. Truth is absolute and as a result, I will continue to say the truth no matter how bitter or unfavourable it may be.
Many people, pastors, priests, public affairs commentators have failed in their duties to expose the real nature of Abia state, and how the state has gone from bad to worst since the inception of democracy in 1999.It has been tale of woes.
Instead of the obfuscated facts and distorted realities solely aimed at whipping up raw emotions on various news channels on how Abia state has become heaven on earth, this write up will give you a great insight on how Abia state has deteriorated in every angle.
Prior to the return of democracy in 1999, Abia State was undeniably one of the best states in Nigeria. Everybody, both great and small want to go to Abia State particularly Aba and Umuahia. Made in Aba products were booming and ballooning. The spirits and morals of Abians were very high and towering. Abians move with great pride. No doubt everybody from other states want to associates with Abians just because of their ingenuity.
In terms of human and material resources, Abia state was ranked high. The quality of minds in Abia States then were unarguably the best among the rest. The dignity and confidence of Abians rose to the highest echelon.
But since the inception of democracy and democratic leaders in Abia State, Abia state has gone from bad to worst. Abia state has in the past and presently been gifted with leaders whose interests are parochial at best and destructive in every form. Their interests are just to enrich themselves, their families and also to continue to masturbate themselves at the corridors of power.
The state that maintained an exemplary stride-in Education, sports and industry compared to other states in the country has become a shadow of itself. All the past and present leaders of the state have jointly institutionalized corruption favouritism, clannishness and other social vices in the state. Abia state is now a laughing stock amongst the states of the federation.
Looking at the extent of infrastructural decay in Abia state today, you will strongly believe with me that Abia state is in a dire need of a redeemer. Driving into the state will certainly show you an exact definition of a state that has refused to work.
Millions of quality minds are leaving the state in droves. Abia State is currently in a state of limbo. Businesses are not moving. Salaries and pensions are not paid. Entrepreneur is not working due to multiple taxation.
Each time you visit the state, you will notice that everybody is so indignant and fully exasperated. Anger everywhere.
Abia State is lacking in the capacity to build leaders. The youths are left to wallow in idleness. The state holds her youths back.
Each time you listen to the state-owned radio station, you will cry. The level of sycophancy in the state stinks to high heavens.
If youths of Abia state can channel even one third of the energy they are using in defending some expired and retrogressive politicians to challenge the bad governance in the state since 1999, it wouldn’t have been this disastrous and irredeemable.
For all Abians at home and in diaspora, this is an opportune time to challenge this brazen impunity in our state.
We will never reward anybody who failed woefully with our votes gain. They have destroyed us with their envy, ineptitude and corrupt tendencies’ must be returned to God’s own state.
