SACK UMUAHIA NORTH LGA CHAIRMAN NOW, RESIDENTS BEG GOV. IKPEAZU
Residents of the capital city of Umuahia have all in one condemned the ineptitude and the less concern position of the Umuahia North LGA Chairman over the administration of the council area.
The volume of the condemnation was pumped up during the monthly sanitation exercise for the month of May where it was proved again that the Transition Committee Chairman of the council area, and indeed, his entire team are deep down the sea of maladministration hence the call for the state governor to relive him of his duties.
Recall that two months ago when Journalists who came to monitor the state monthly sanitation exercise had pointed out the untidy nature of the premises of the council headquarters which was being overgrown by bush and overtaken by refuse generated by the council staff, he had assured that in less than forty eight hours, that the environmental cleanliness of premises will be back up again.
But two months after, the heap of refuse and overgrown bushes dot the entire landscape of the council headquarters which also serve as the state monitoring take off point.
All the undeveloped areas in the council headquarters, including the Legislative Council Chamber where the Magistrate seat to try offenders who contravene the sanitation law looks unkempt, overgrown with weeds at all sides.
The frontage of the offices of the National Youth Service Corps and NIMC, which overlook office of the Treasurer and Head of Service is the refuse dump site of the council area, and a Local Government staff told Parrot News that in many occasions, reptiles have been seen crawling around the office blocks.
“Our fear is that most of us may be occupying our offices with these creatures. We are even scared to get close to ease ourselves there any longer. If you get closer to the fish pond farm, you will understand what I am telling you” the public health officer who do not want her name in print told Parrot News.
Those who are asking for the sack of the council TC Chairman are irked by the nonchalant attitude being showcased by Hon.Kelechi Ezechukwu who is said to be a resident of Port Harcourt, Rivers State before Chief Empire Kanu nominated his name for the office of the council boss.
According to Chief Chukwu Nmagha, a shop owner within the city centre, popularity known as Gate, there is need for the state governor to look for a more serious person to replace the TC Chairman who hardly makesa it to the office more than two times in a week.
“The truth is that he is not on ground. He was imported into the city and he knows how to enjoy the privileges of a Chairman, but it does appear that he doesn’t know a bit of local government administration. The premises of the council headquarters generate funds every weekend. At some time wedding receptions are held there and they are paid for. It is unfortunate for this young man”
Speaking also at the Local Government premises, a concerned citizen, Uche Ndubuisi expressed dissatisfaction over the sorry state of the council area which has remained an eyesore to both passers by and workers just as he argued that the dirty nature of the council headquarters became worst under the leadership of the current Transition Committee Chairman, Hon. Kelechi Ezechukwu. (Parrot News).
